Follow the steps below to configure your email software. You can click on the images to enlarge them if you need to see them in more detail.

Step 1
To begin configuring Outlook Express, select "Accounts" from the "Tools" menu.

Step 2
Select "Add" and then click "Mail" to add a new email account.
Step 3
Enter your name in the box provided. You can use spaces, so, for example, enter "John Smith". Once you've done this, click "Next" to continue.
Step 4
Enter your email address. This will usually be something like "john@4ukmail.com". Then click "Next" to proceed".

Step 5
Choose either POP3 or IMAP mail collection. If you are not sure which to choose you should select "POP3" or click here for a discussion of the pros and cons of POP3 vs IMAP email collection.

Now enter the Incoming and Outgoing server adresses. These are "pop3.4ukmail.com" and "smtp.4ukmail.com" respectively (without the quotes!).

Step 6
Enter your account name and password. Your user name will be something like "john@4ukmail.com" and is normally exactly the same as your email address. Click "Next" and "Finish" to complete the account setup.

In order to be able to send email through 4uk's servers you must complete the following step. You should now see the account you just created in the list. If you click the "mail" tab you will see fewer accounts. Select the new mail account and click "Properties".

Step 7
Now click on the "Servers" tab and place a check in the box marked "My server requires authentication". Click "OK" and "Close" to finish. You can now test your settings by clicking "Send and Receive".
