What will my default email address be?
When you sign up for a 4uk account you will be asked to choose an account name. If you chose "bob", for example, your full email address would be "bob@4ukmail.com". This would also be what you will use to login to the 4uk website. You can then map your own domains to this "bob" mailbox if you wish.

Why can't I pay monthly?
Unfortunately 4uk are charged for every credit/debit card transaction that we take. Therefore, if we took monthly payments we would have to increase the price of our products notably, and we don't want that now do we?!

Will your spam filter ever treat genuine mail as spam?
Sometimes genuine email is wrongly tagged as spam. This normally happens when you receive a piece of legitimate email advertising, like an e-newsletter that you've signed up for. To prevent this happening you can adjust the strength of the spam filter to suit your needs. You can also add addresses to a "white list" to make sure they are not scanned.

What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP email collection?
This is a fairly complicated point, please see this page for a full discussion of the pros and cons of each. If you want a quick answer we would normally say: If you don't know the difference, you want POP3!

Can I point my own domains at a 4uk mailbox?
Yes you can. 4uk do not sell, host or register domains, so you will have to register one with someone like www.ukreg.com and then point it at our servers.

What do I need to do to point my domain at my 4uk mailbox?
You need to change the primary and secondary mx records to "mx1.4ukmail.com" and "mx2.4ukmail.com" respectively. How you do this varies depending on your domain host. Some have a control panel for you to do it yourself, some you will have to call/email.

Can I split a domain accross several mailboxes?
Yes you can, provided that all the mailboxes are owned by the same account. This would allow you to point say "fred@yourdomain.com" to the "fred" mailbox and "bob@yourdomain.com" to the "bob" mailbox.
